Smith Creek Restoration 2

Prior to stream restoration efforts, as the creek water was not able to flow around the bend it would slam into the bank, just upstream of the trackhoe, and eventually created a six to seven foot high stream bank. This steep embankment provided no habitat for the creek’s fisheries in addition to being unstable. The stream bank is now more stable because the stream bank has been pulled back and the root wads provide the bank with some protection. The root wads will also create additional habitat for aquatic organisms.
