A research team from the Center of Aquatic Technology Transfer, Forest Service unit is electroshocking on Little Stony Creek, which is in the headwaters of the Shenandoah watershed. For the past few years they have been looking for the American Eel. Even up here in the headwaters they will find large adult eels. They are looking for distribution, where in the streams the eels are located, and also studying their movement within the stream. Very little is known of the American Eel in headwater streams. A lot of their life history is studied down in the estuaries. |
