High Rock Overlook is located just south of the Mason-Dixon Line in Northern Washington County. From here one can see much of the Great Valley, which extends from Virginia through Maryland and into Pennsylvania. The overlook is also close to the divide where water on one side of the mountain flows into the Monocacy River, and on the other side (the valley below) into Antietam Creek. High Rock Overlook is located in the South Mountain Natural Environment Area, near the Appalachian Trail, which runs across Maryland, from Pennsylvania to West Virginia.
