The Wildland/Urban Interface is targeted as an area where increased efforts are needed to promote fire awareness and prevention. One goal of the Potomac Watershed Partnership is to organize community outreach and education efforts that inform people of the risks associated with fire in the Wildland/Urban Interface. These efforts include showing homeowners how to make their home more resistant to fire by creating defensible space, maintaining a debris-free yard, using flame-resistant building materials, etc. Other outreach efforts focus on educating people on preventing wildfire by burning debris properly, disposing of wood stove ashes properly, and being wise with all heat, flame, and fuel sources.

Choosing these locations will give you further information, often with a panoramic overview, of what the resource issue is and how it is being dealt with.
